I have noticed that on the day of my freeroll events there is always a rush of people that try to register for my promotion. Many of those that try to register are not eligible to participate because they are not local. I do appreciate your interest, but I need to remind you that these events are only for people that live or work in Santa Clara County or Fremont (we are trying to keep this a local promotion). There are several ways that we go about making sure that only legitimate (local) players register so that we can keep it fair for everyone registered. Here are a few of the things we do:
We ask for a phone number on the registration form. This number is not used for solicitation purposes and is kept confidential. When you register on the day of the event, I will send you an email asking you to call me FROM THE PHONE NUMBER YOU LIST ON YOUR REGISTRATION FORM. I will expect this number to be from a local area code.
On the registration form I ask for a home or work address. I have county records that allow me to verify these addresses.
I want to point out that all prizes are handed out IN PERSON. If I don't know you personally, I will ask for ID and/or proof that you live or work in this area.
Anyone that qualifies for the Grand Finale will need to provide evidence that they are in fact local.
Note to legitimate registered players: In large part to you keeping the tournament passwords to yourself (thanks!), our online events have been very 'clean'. For example, in the last event we had 119 players and only 1 wasn't legit/registered on my site. To date, there has never been an illegal player that has done well enough to win any of the prizes. In the event that someone was playing illegally and they finished in a position to win a prize, their prize would be forfeit and given to the next person/finisher.
